Day 1 – Thursday 10 June 2027 – Arrival in Kuching

Welcome to Borneo! Upon arrival into Kuching, you will be met and transferred to our hotel for check-in. The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax after your journey or begin exploring the charming riverside city at your own pace.

Kuching, meaning “cat” in Malay, is known for its laid-back atmosphere, colourful waterfront, colonial architecture, and blend of Malay, Chinese, and indigenous cultures. It provides the perfect introduction to the island of Borneo.

This evening, we gather for our welcome meeting and tour briefing before enjoying our first group dinner together at a local restaurant — a wonderful opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers as we begin our Borneo adventure.

Meals Included: Dinner
Accommodation: Pullman Kuching – Deluxe Room

Day 2 – Friday 11 June 2027 – Bidayuh Longhouse & Sarawak River Cruise

This morning, we journey into the countryside surrounding Kuching to visit the traditional Bidayuh village of Annah Rais. Surrounded by lush rainforest and rolling hills, the drive offers a glimpse into rural Sarawak life before arriving at one of the region’s best-preserved longhouses.

The Annah Rais Longhouse is believed to be over 200 years old and remains home to the local Bidayuh community today. Built primarily from bamboo, wood, and forest materials, the longhouse offers fascinating insight into traditional indigenous culture, customs, and daily life in Borneo.

After our visit, we return to the city for lunch and some time to relax before heading to the waterfront later in the afternoon for a scenic Sarawak River cruise.

As the sun begins to set, we glide along the river past colourful Malay villages, historic landmarks, mosques, colonial buildings, and the lively Kuching Waterfront. The river has long been the lifeblood of the city, and cruising along it offers a unique perspective of Kuching as day turns into night.

Following the cruise, we enjoy dinner together before returning to the hotel for the evening.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Pullman Kuching – Deluxe Room

Day 3 – Saturday 12 June 2027 – Kuching to Kinabalu Park

An early start this morning as we transfer to the airport for our flight from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival, we enjoy breakfast before beginning our scenic journey into the mountainous highlands of Sabah.

Travelling along winding roads through villages, farmland, and the spectacular Crocker Range, we make several interesting stops along the way, including local markets and cultural galleries showcasing Sabah’s many indigenous tribes and traditional costumes.

By midday, we arrive at Kinabalu Park, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed region renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity and home to the majestic Mount Kinabalu — the highest mountain in Southeast Asia.

The cooler mountain air provides a refreshing change as we explore some of the park’s beautiful botanical trails and rainforest surroundings. Kinabalu Park is home to thousands of plant species, orchids, birds, butterflies, and unique wildlife found nowhere else on Earth.

After some time to enjoy the scenery and peaceful rainforest environment, we check into our lodge for the evening with free time to relax and soak up the natural surroundings.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Sutera Sanctuary Lodges – Hill Lodge Room

Day 4 – Sunday 13 June 2027 – Poring Hot Springs & Sepilok

After breakfast, we depart Kinabalu Park and travel to the famous Poring Hot Springs, named after the giant bamboo plants that grow abundantly in the area.

Nestled within the rainforest, the hot springs are known for their naturally heated mineral waters and lush jungle surroundings. Depending on local conditions, there may also be an opportunity to explore sections of the rainforest canopy walkways suspended high above the jungle floor.

We then continue our journey east across Sabah towards the wildlife region of Sepilok near Sandakan. The drive takes us through changing landscapes as we head deeper into Borneo’s rainforest environment.

Arriving at our rainforest lodge later in the afternoon, there is time to relax and enjoy the peaceful jungle setting before dinner.

As evening falls, we experience the rainforest after dark with a guided night walk along the lodge’s nature boardwalks. This is a wonderful opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife and listen to the fascinating sounds of the jungle at night.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: MY Nature Resort – Standard Chalet

Day 5 – Monday 14 June 2027 – Orangutans, Sun Bears & Proboscis Monkeys

Early this morning, we visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where elevated canopy walkways and forest trails offer a chance to experience the rainforest waking to life. Surrounded by towering trees and lush jungle, we may spot birds, squirrels, monkeys, and other wildlife hidden within the canopy.

After breakfast, we continue to the world-famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Established in 1964, the centre plays an important role in rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured orangutans before releasing them back into the wild. We visit the nursery viewing area and feeding platform for the opportunity to observe these incredible animals up close within their natural rainforest environment.

We then visit the nearby Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, home to rescued sun bears — the world’s smallest bear species. Here, we learn about ongoing conservation efforts while observing the bears roaming through large forest enclosures.

After lunch and some time to relax, we travel to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, located within a mangrove forest ecosystem that supports one of Borneo’s most unique and recognisable animals — the proboscis monkey. Alongside these fascinating primates, we may also encounter silver leaf monkeys, hornbills, and other wildlife native to the region.

We return to our rainforest lodge in the late afternoon for a relaxed evening surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6 – Tuesday 15 June 2027 – Kinabatangan River & Sukau Rainforest Lodge

This morning is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful rainforest surroundings of Sepilok, or you may choose to revisit the orangutan sanctuary for another wildlife experience before we continue deeper into Borneo’s wilderness.

Later this morning, we travel to Sandakan before boarding our boat for a scenic journey along the famous Kinabatangan River — one of the richest wildlife habitats in all of Southeast Asia.

As we cruise upriver towards Sukau, keep watch along the riverbanks for wildlife including proboscis monkeys, macaques, hornbills, crocodiles, and, if we are lucky, the rare Bornean pygmy elephant.

Arriving at the award-winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, we settle into our beautiful riverside lodge before heading back out onto the river for an afternoon wildlife cruise using quiet electric-powered boats designed to minimise disturbance to the environment.

As the jungle begins to come alive in the evening, we return to the lodge for dinner overlooking the river, followed by a presentation from the lodge naturalists about the incredible ecosystem surrounding us.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Sukau Rainforest Lodge – Borneo Villa

Day 7 – Wednesday 16 June 2027 – Wildlife Cruises on the Kinabatangan River

Early this morning, we set out by boat along the wildlife-rich Kinabatangan River towards the peaceful Kelenanap Oxbow Lake, one of the best areas in the region for spotting birds and wildlife in the cooler morning hours.

As the rainforest slowly awakens, keep your eyes peeled for hornbills, kingfishers, macaques, proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, and perhaps even wild orangutans moving through the trees along the riverbanks.

After breakfast back at the lodge, we enjoy a guided nature experience along the Hornbill Boardwalk with the lodge’s resident naturalists, learning more about the unique flora, fauna, and ecosystems of the Kinabatangan region.

Following lunch, there is time to relax before another afternoon river safari, giving us yet another opportunity to search for wildlife as the changing light transforms the rainforest scenery.

Tonight, we once again enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of our award-winning rainforest lodge surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.

Day 8 – Thursday 17 June 2027 – Into the Heart of Danum Valley

Upon arrival in Lahad Datu, we stop for registration and a short briefing before continuing deep into the rainforest. The journey into Danum Valley is an experience in itself, travelling through dense jungle landscapes that have remained largely untouched for millions of years.

Arriving at the renowned Borneo Rainforest Lodge, we settle into our jungle lodge surrounded by ancient rainforest and extraordinary biodiversity.

This afternoon, we begin exploring the rainforest with guided nature walks led by expert naturalist guides who provide fascinating insight into the flora, fauna, and delicate ecosystems of Danum Valley. We also experience the spectacular canopy walkway suspended high above the forest floor, offering breathtaking views across the rainforest canopy.

As darkness falls, the jungle transforms once again during our evening night drive or guided night walk, where we search for nocturnal wildlife and experience the incredible sounds of the rainforest after dark.

Day 9 – Friday 18 June 2027 – Exploring Danum Valley

Today is dedicated to fully immersing ourselves in the ancient rainforest of Danum Valley Conservation Area, one of Borneo’s most remarkable wildlife and conservation regions.

Awaken to the sounds of the jungle before setting out on a guided rainforest trek to the scenic View Point and the fascinating Coffin Cliff — an ancient burial site of the local Dusun people hidden within the forest. Along the way, our naturalist guides share insights into the rainforest ecosystem and help us search for wildlife, birds, insects, and unique plant species.

Following the morning trek, there is an opportunity to cool off in a natural jungle pool surrounded by pristine rainforest scenery before returning to the lodge for lunch.

The afternoon offers time to relax or participate in optional nature activities depending on weather and local conditions. For those seeking additional adventure, there may be opportunities for further jungle walks or river activities.

As evening approaches, we venture back out into the rainforest for another unforgettable night walk or night drive, offering a completely different perspective of the jungle and the creatures that emerge after dark.

Tonight is our final evening deep within the Bornean rainforest — a truly special experience surrounded by one of the oldest ecosystems on the planet.
