Fitness Level: Moderate
This tour is best suited to women with a moderate level of fitness who are comfortable being active most days while still enjoying plenty of time to relax and unwind. While this is not a strenuous tour overall, there are several days that include walking, uneven surfaces, stairs, and warm tropical weather.
Guests should feel comfortable with:
- Walking for 2–4 hours at a relaxed pace on sightseeing days
- Navigating uneven ground, stone steps, and gentle inclines
- Climbing the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, which includes approximately 1,200 steps and uneven stairways
- Participating in wildlife safaris with extended periods in safari vehicles
- Short hikes and village walks, including the walk to Nine Arches Bridge
- Carrying their own day bag during train journeys and sightseeing
- Warm and humid weather conditions throughout much of the tour
Please note:
- The climb to Sigiriya Rock Fortress is optional, and guests may choose to relax at the base area if preferred.
- The scenic train journey may require stepping on and off trains independently and managing small bags.
- Safari drives can occasionally be bumpy due to natural park roads.
- Comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and a sense of adventure are highly recommended.

Upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you’ll be welcomed with the genuine warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality. Our representative will greet you with beautiful Orchid flowers before escorting you to your transfer.
You will then head to Negombo, where a traditional oil lamp lighting ceremony will mark your arrival. The hotel’s Guest Relations Officer will assist with check-in, and after enjoying a refreshing fruit juice, you’ll receive your room keys. Settle in, relax, and unwind at your leisure.

Early this morning, those who are up early will have the opportunity to visit Negombo’s famous Fish Market, locally known as the Lellama. Located near the Old Dutch Gate across the lagoon bridge, this is the second largest open-air fish market in Sri Lanka and offers a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of the local fishing community.Watch as hundreds of colourful fishing boats return with the morning’s catch and experience the lively atmosphere as wholesalers and restaurant owners negotiate prices, while fish is packed and prepared for distribution throughout Sri Lanka and overseas.
Following the market visit, we continue to Chilaw for a unique toddy tapping and arrack tasting experience at a local estate. We will also visit the distillery and enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan toddy tapper’s breakfast featuring manioc, sweet potato, mild coconut sambol, thick sun-dried fish curry, fried onions and kiri bath (milk rice). This authentic local experience offers a wonderful introduction to Sri Lankan flavours and traditions.
Afterwards, we continue to Dambulla, where we settle into our beautiful hotel that will be our home for the next three nights.

After breakfast, we travel to the UNESCO World Heritage listed city of Polonnaruwa, one of Sri Lanka’s most important archaeological treasures and the country’s second ancient kingdom.
Guests may choose to explore the ancient city by bicycle, with the support vehicle travelling alongside for anyone preferring not to cycle. Within the archaeological site, our guide will gather everyone together for explanations and insights into the history of this extraordinary location.
Polonnaruwa is renowned for its remarkably well-preserved ruins, ancient temples, royal palaces and enormous reservoir known as the Parakrama Samudra. The city remains one of the best-planned archaeological sites in Sri Lanka.
Later this afternoon, we head out on an exciting safari through Minneriya National Park, home to the famous elephant gathering. Depending on elephant movements during the season, we may instead visit Kaudulla or Eco Park.
The park is rich in wildlife, including elephants, deer, birdlife and reptiles, all set against the backdrop of Sri Lanka’s beautiful dry zone landscapes. Watching herds of elephants gather near the massive reservoir is an unforgettable experience.
Following our safari adventure, we return to Dambulla. During the drive back, enjoy a fun sing-song session with prizes, where the winners will receive a case of Somersby beers.

This morning we experience authentic village life during a visit to Hiriwadunna.
Our village experience begins with a tractor ride through the countryside, passing lush greenery, local farms and tranquil waterways. Along the way you may spot colourful birdlife, butterflies and perhaps even crocodiles.
We then continue by catamaran across the lake before visiting a traditional Sri Lankan village home where we will enjoy an authentic local lunch and cooking demonstration hosted by a village family. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in preparing traditional Sri Lankan dishes.
This is a truly immersive cultural experience and a wonderful opportunity to connect with local traditions and village life.
Later this afternoon, we visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Rising dramatically 200 metres above the surrounding jungle, Sigiriya was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century and is often referred to as the “Lion Rock.” Explore the ancient fortress ruins, water gardens and world-famous frescoes of the Heavenly Maidens as we climb towards the summit.
This evening, a special booklet of bedtime stories about “Andare,” the witty court jester from ancient Sri Lanka, will be placed in your room for a light-hearted and charming end to the day.

After breakfast, we check out and travel towards the beautiful hill city of Kandy.
En route we stop at a spice garden in Matale, where we will learn about Sri Lanka’s rich spice heritage and medicinal plants. Enjoy a refreshing herbal tea while a local guide explains the uses and healing properties of various spices and herbs.
Guests may also choose to enjoy an optional head and shoulder massage or foot massage using locally made herbal oils.
Upon arrival in Kandy, the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Relax by the pool or enjoy a spa treatment at the hotel.
This evening, we gather for a special saree draping experience where you will learn how to elegantly wear traditional Sri Lankan attire.
Tonight’s dinner is a memorable fine dining experience at Jetwing Kandy Gallery, blending local flavours with international cuisine in a beautiful setting.

This morning we transfer to Kandy Railway Station for one of the world’s most scenic train journeys through Sri Lanka’s hill country to Nuwara Eliya.
Travelling through misty mountains, tea plantations, tunnels and lush green valleys, this iconic rail journey is a true highlight of Sri Lanka.
Guests will receive a snack box to enjoy during the journey.
Please note that while every effort will be made to secure train tickets, train travel in Sri Lanka is part of the public transport system and schedules or seating arrangements can occasionally change.
Upon arrival, we visit a tea plantation and factory to learn about the production of world-renowned Ceylon Tea.
Later, explore the charming town of Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as “Little England” due to its colonial architecture and cool climate. We also visit Gregory Lake, a popular recreational area surrounded by beautiful scenery.

After breakfast, we travel towards Haputale.
This afternoon we visit Ella and the famous Nine Arch Bridge, one of Sri Lanka’s most photographed landmarks.
Surrounded by lush jungle and tea plantations, this beautiful colonial-era bridge is a remarkable example of British engineering. A short walk through the countryside leads us to the bridge where, if timing allows, we may witness a train crossing the arches — a truly magical sight.
This evening dinner is at your own leisure at the popular Café Chill in Ella.
Later we return to our hotel in Haputale.

After a relaxing breakfast, we visit the beautiful Adhisham Bungalow Monastery.
Originally built as a British colonial country house, this peaceful Benedictine monastery is surrounded by misty hills and lush gardens.
During our visit you will also have the opportunity to purchase homemade jams, chutneys and cordials prepared using traditional methods and natural ingredients.
The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.
This evening, enjoy dinner at Dream Cliff Mountain Resort together with a Reverend from Adhisham Monastery who will share fascinating stories about the history of Ceylon tea and the legacy of Lipton’s Seat.

Afterwards, we travel towards Yala National Park.
This afternoon we head out on safari in one of Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife reserves, renowned for having one of the highest leopard densities in the world.
Yala National Park is home to elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, birdlife and an incredible variety of wildlife.
Our safari offers an exciting opportunity to explore the park’s rugged landscapes and search for elusive leopards and other animals in their natural habitat.

Upon arrival in Kosgoda, the remainder of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast, begin the day with a calming meditation session designed to promote relaxation, mindfulness and inner peace.

To join any of our captivating Luxury Women’s Tours (LWT) itineraries, a per-person deposit, tailored to your selected trip, is required to confirm and secure your reservation.
The final balance payment must be settled 90 days before your journey begins. If you book within this 90-day window, the full amount becomes due at the time of booking.
In case of cancellation more than 90 days prior to the trip’s start, a full refund is granted, with deductions for non-refundable supplier deposits and non-refundable flight expenses.
For cancellations made between 90 and 60 days before the trip starts, your land component deposits become non-refundable, while all other payments are refunded, with non-refundable supplier or flight charges deducted.
Cancellations occurring 59 days or fewer before the trip starts result in all land tour component payments, including the deposit, being non-refundable.
All flights are subject to airline terms and conditions.
Pricing
Published trip prices include all applicable taxes and are based on shared occupancy. Solo travelers are thoughtfully matched with roommates to avoid additional single supplement fees. Single supplements are available with a surcharge, subject to availability.

Be aware that terms, conditions, and cancellation fees imposed by flight carriers are applicable in accordance with the airline’s policies.
Cancellation by the Client
In case a Client needs to cancel their reservation, we request written notification sent to jamie@luxurywomenstours.com.au.
Upon receiving written confirmation of cancellation from LWT, your reserved spot on the trip will be released, and rebooking availability is not guaranteed.
Refund terms for client-initiated cancellations are as follows:
- Over 90 days before the trip’s start: Full refund, with deductions for non-refundable supplier deposits and non-refundable flight expenses.
- Cancellation between 90 and 60 days before the trip’s start: Land component deposits become non-refundable, with all other payments refunded, minus non-refundable supplier or flight charges.
- Cancellations occurring 59 days or fewer before the trip starts result in all land tour component payments, including the deposit, being non-refundable.
- All flights are subject to airline terms and conditions.
Credits
Credits are valid for use within the original year of the trip or the following calendar year, with a total validity period of 24 months from the date of issuance.
These credits can be transferred to another woman, who assumes responsibility for any outstanding balance payments and directly reimburses you for the deposit. However, the replacement participant must meet trip registration requirements and receive approval from LWT.
You can also apply your credits toward the final balance of another trip, provided the request is made at least 90 days before the trip’s start date. Additionally, you have the flexibility to transfer your credits to any other trip or cancel and reapply your credits as many times as needed before the 90-day mark before the trip date, all within the original credit expiry date. Please note that all credits are issued in Australian Dollars (AUD).
Cancellation of a Tour by Luxury Women’s Tours
Our trips are confirmed to depart with a minimum group size booked. LWT reserves the right to cancel any trip for any reason, though cancellations less than 60 days before departure are rare, except for Force Majeure or unforeseen circumstances beyond LWT’s control.
If LWT cancels a tour before the agreed departure date for reasons other than Force Majeure or the fault of the Client, you have the following options:
- Choose a substitute tour of equivalent or higher price, paying the difference.
- Opt for a substitute tour of lower price, receiving the difference in price as a refund.
- Receive a full refund of all monies paid under the contract.
LWT is not responsible for incidental expenses or consequential losses incurred by the Client, such as visa fees, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or rail tickets, non-refundable parking, loss of earnings, or loss of enjoyment.
