After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to Patan Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site), located in the historic heart of Patan. Once the royal palace of the Malla kings, the square is a stunning collection of palace buildings, artistic courtyards, and elegant pagoda temples — an outstanding showcase of Newari architecture at its height.

We explore the beautifully restored Keshav Narayan Chowk, now home to a fascinating bronze artefact museum, and the exquisite Sundari Chowk, known for its intricate woodcarvings and the sunken Tusha Hiti bath. Highlights also include the magnificent Krishna Temple, built in 1637 with 21 gilded spires, and believed to be Nepal’s first example of Shikhara-style stone architecture.

Our sightseeing continues at the iconic Swoyambhunath Stupa (UNESCO World Heritage Site), affectionately known as the “Monkey Temple.” This ancient site — more than two thousand years old — offers a dazzling white stupa crowned with Buddha’s all-seeing eyes, alongside sweeping views over Kathmandu Valley. The hilltop has long been considered sacred, with traces of animist rituals predating the arrival of Buddhism.

After our visit, we return to the hotel to relax for the rest of the day.

After breakfast, we transfer to Kathmandu’s domestic airport for a short scenic flight to Pokhara—Nepal’s second largest city and a gateway to the Annapurna region. Nestled beside a tranquil lake and surrounded by soaring peaks, Pokhara is renowned for its natural beauty and relaxed charm.

Upon arrival, we transfer to your hotel and check in. After some time to freshen up, we’ll enjoy a serene boating experience on Fewa Lake, the shimmering jewel of Pokhara. Float across its peaceful waters and take in the reflection of Machapuchare—the sacred “Fishtail” mountain—on the surface. You may even spot the iconic Tal Barahi Temple, set on an island in the middle of the lake.

The evening is free for you to explore at your leisure. Stroll along the lively lakeside promenade, visit local shops, or simply relax and take in the mountain views.

We begin our day with an early morning drive to Sarangkot, a hilltop viewpoint situated at 1,600 metres above sea level and famous for its spectacular sunrise views. As the sun rises over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, you’ll witness the snow-capped peaks glowing in golden light—a moment of true natural beauty. For those who would like to do an easy 45 minute hike, the option is available.

After soaking in the views, we return to the hotel for breakfast.

Our afternoon brings a half-day guided tour of Pokhara’s cultural and natural highlights. Visit the sacred Bindabasini Temple, one of the oldest in the city, followed by a descent into the mystical Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave. We’ll also stop at the Seti Gorge, carved by the milky white Seti River, and witness the power of Davis Falls, where the river plunges into an underground tunnel.

Next, we explore the old town of Pokhara and visit the Tibetan Refugee Camp, where you can learn about the local Tibetan community’s crafts and culture. From there, we continue to the hilltop Shanti Stupa, or Peace Pagoda, perched at 1,100 metres on Anadu Hill. Built by Nipponzan Myohoji monks as a symbol of world peace, the stupa also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and mountain ranges.

Pokhara is not only famed for its beauty—it also lies within 30 aerial miles of three of the world’s highest mountains: Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu. The city is also a launching point for treks into the Annapurna region and offers a unique blend of serenity and adventure.

After the sightseeing, enjoy free time to wander the lakeside promenade, brimming with inviting cafes, boutiques, and local markets.

After breakfast, we transfer to Bharatpur Airport for our short 20-minute flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we continue by road to Nagarkot, a beautiful hillside village situated at 2,300 metres above sea level. Known for its panoramic Himalayan views, Nagarkot offers unforgettable sunsets and sunrises — and on a clear day, even Mt. Everest can be seen on the horizon.

Along the way, we visit the remarkable city of Bhaktapur (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Rich in culture and history, Bhaktapur is renowned for its beautifully preserved palaces, temples, carved wooden columns, gilded rooftops, and open courtyards. The city is dotted with pagodas and shrines, and its Art Gallery showcases a fascinating collection of ancient manuscripts, Thangkas, stone sculptures and paintings representing both Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

Known locally as Khwopa, Bhaktapur is considered the cultural capital of Nepal. Its history dates back to the 8th century, and it served as the capital of Nepal until the 15th century. Surrounded by ancient walls and city gates, Bhaktapur is often described as a “living heritage”, where festivals, traditional dances, rituals, and Newari customs bring its rich culture to life. Entrance fees collected from visitors are used to preserve the city’s treasured monuments and maintain its unique cultural landscape.

We then continue to Changunarayan Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), believed to be one of the oldest temples in Nepal, dating back to the Licchavi period. Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by Champak trees, the temple features exquisite stone and wood carvings, intricately designed struts, and beautifully decorated doorways. Within the courtyard you’ll find statues of Lord Vishnu and other deities, as well as life-sized guardian figures at each entrance. The western entrance also displays an ancient Sanskrit inscription — a remarkable piece of Nepal’s early history.

After our visit, we continue the scenic drive to Nagarkot and check in to our hotel for a relaxing evening.

Rise early this morning to witness a truly breathtaking spectacle—the sunrise over the Himalayas. From Nagarkot’s elevated vantage point, the snow-capped peaks, including Langtang and even Mt. Everest on a clear day, are bathed in soft morning light. For those keen, a short walk through the village offers a peaceful opportunity to take in local life and sweeping valley views.

After breakfast, we drive to Kathmandu and enjoy an orientation visit to Thamel, the lively heart of tourism in the Kathmandu Valley. This vibrant neighbourhood is famous for its narrow laneways, colourful storefronts, and energetic atmosphere, with shops and stalls selling everything from local handicrafts and souvenirs to trekking gear, woollen clothing, spices, pastries, and fresh produce.

Later, After checking in to the hotel, guests may choose to relax and unwind, or return to Thamel at their leisure for some last-minute shopping and exploration before the journey continues.

This morning, we farewell Nepal and board our flight to Paro, Bhutan. The flight itself is an unforgettable experience, offering spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain range and, on a clear day, even Mount Everest.

Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your Bhutanese guide before we make the scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s peaceful capital. Along the way, we’ll stop at the beautiful Tachogang Lhakhang, a historic 14th-century temple set beside an ancient iron chain bridge, providing a wonderful introduction to Bhutan’s rich spiritual heritage.

In Thimphu, we’ll visit the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, an impressive 51-metre golden Buddha that overlooks the valley and has become one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks.

We’ll also visit the Memorial Chorten, one of the country’s most important religious monuments, where you’ll witness locals gathering to pray, spin prayer wheels, and carry out their daily devotions.

This afternoon, enjoy some free time to wander through Thimphu’s charming town centre, browse traditional handicraft stores and local boutiques, or simply soak up the unique atmosphere of Bhutan’s captivating capital.

After breakfast, we set out to explore the cultural heart of Thimphu, a city where ancient tradition and modern development exist side by side in harmony.

Our first stop is the Folk Heritage Museum, a beautifully preserved traditional Bhutanese farmhouse offering a window into rural life. The museum showcases age-old tools, household items, and agricultural artifacts, providing insight into Bhutan’s agrarian roots and enduring customs.

Next, we visit the Textile Museum, where you’ll gain a deep appreciation for Bhutan’s rich tradition of weaving. From intricate handwoven garments to royal attire, the exhibits here highlight the artistry and symbolism behind Bhutanese textiles, an integral part of the nation’s cultural identity.

We then continue to a paper-making factory, where you’ll see how Bhutanese artisans produce traditional handmade paper using the bark of the Daphne plant. Watch the process from raw material to finished product and perhaps pick up some beautiful stationery or souvenirs.

After lunch, we visit Pangri Zampa Monastery, a serene and historic temple complex that also houses a school of astrology. This 16th-century site is known for its peaceful setting and towering cypress trees, offering a moment of calm and reflection.

Our final visit today is to Tashichho Dzong, the majestic fortress-monastery that houses the offices of the King and key government ministries. With its whitewashed walls, golden towers, and manicured gardens, this grand structure is a striking example of traditional Bhutanese architecture and national pride.

After breakfast, we depart Thimphu and journey eastward through the ever-changing landscapes of Bhutan, bound for the serene Phobjikha Valley and the village of Gangtey.

Our drive takes us over the Dochula Pass (3,100 metres), one of the most scenic points on the journey. On a clear day, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, framed by the 108 memorial chortens that dot the ridge. It’s a truly awe-inspiring stop, ideal for photographs and quiet contemplation.

Along the way, we’ll make a special stop at ancient meditation caves, where generations of monks have sought solitude and spiritual insight. These sacred spaces are imbued with a stillness that speaks to Bhutan’s deeply rooted Buddhist traditions.

Upon arriving in the glacial valley of Phobjikha, we visit Gangtey Goemba, a 17th-century monastery perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley. This important religious site is not only a spiritual centre for locals but also offers a commanding view of the surrounding wetlands and mountains.

We’ll also explore the Black-Necked Crane Centre, dedicated to the protection and education surrounding these rare and graceful migratory birds. The cranes, which arrive from Tibet each winter, are revered in Bhutanese culture and considered symbols of longevity and peace.

By late afternoon, we arrive at the award-winning Taj  Gangtey Lodge, where luxury meets tradition. Set within a traditional farmhouse, this boutique retreat offers rustic elegance and sweeping views of the valley—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

This morning, after a nourishing breakfast at Gangtey Lodge, we begin the day with a beautiful walk along the Gangtey Nature Trail. Along the way, keep your eyes open for black-necked cranes (in season) and enjoy the serene beauty of this untouched glacial landscape.

We then journey toward Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan and one of the most picturesque valleys in the country. En route, we stop to explore the Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. Reached via a short scenic hike through local farming villages and rice paddies, this revered temple is dedicated to Drukpa Kunley—the “Divine Madman”—a Buddhist saint known for his unconventional teachings. The walk offers a chance to observe rural Bhutanese life up close.

We enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, sampling traditional Bhutanese cuisine prepared with local ingredients, before continuing our scenic drive through the lush Punakha Valley.
