When it comes to packing for your trip to Oman, there are a few essentials you shouldn’t forget.  Firstly, make sure to pack lightweight, breathable clothes as the country experiences hot and arid weather year-round.  Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are a necessity.  Don’t forget to pack a scarf or shawl when it comes to visiting mosques or other religious places.  Some places will have covers you can ‘borrow’ but they are not necessarily washed between use; we recommend you take your own.  

Shopping is good in Oman, especially in larger areas where there are more tourists, Muskat etc.  The local currency is the Omani rial (OMR is the code).  Some places also accept the UAE dirham or USD, but not always.  Most larger/tourist places, hotels and some restaurants accept MasterCard, Visa, Electron, Cirrus or Maestro.  ATMs can ‘dry up’ on weekends in smaller towns, so a little local currency might be wise.
