Today you will experience the magical mystery and natural wonders of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Snæfellsnes is a unique area with a variety of geological interests such as lava fields, volcanoes, glacier, mineral springs, beautifully formed rocks, yellow and black sand beaches as well as caves and very interesting bird colonies.
Visit Arnarstapi sea cliffs with its varied birdlife. On a clear day you will enjoy a view of the mystical Snæfellsjökull glacier, a beautifully shaped strato volcano at the very end of the peninsula. The glacier and the unspoiled natural wonders surrounding it, is the scene of Jules Verne’s novel “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” and one of seven most magical sites on Earth, as rumor has it.
One of today´s highlights is a visit to Vatnshellir cave. The area around the glacier contains hundreds of lava tubes. You will be joining a guided tour into one of the caves which is around 8000-year-old and was created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater in the Purkhólar crater family. Today it is time to drive to one our most beautiful fertile fjords, Borgarfjordur. You can stop to explore the picturesque Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls and see Deildartunguhver geyser, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. Continue to Husafell – A pearl between lava fields and glaciers. Húsafell is one of the most visited destinations in Iceland. This is understandable since it is a unique natural gem in a magnificent landscape. The mild weather, the forest, hot springs and the facilities and services, which have been offered there to tourists in the recent years attract many visitors every year.
Head to Iceland’s majestic hinterland and into the white world of Iceland’s second largest glacier, Langjökull “The Long Glacier”. From glacier base you will go on a special 8-wheel drive monster truck that will take you to the ice tunnel. Experience a man-made cave that stretches deep inside the glacier and consists of a series of tunnels and caves carved through solid glacier ice.

Landmannalaugar is an area of great contrasts with black ridges and colorful mountains of green, red, yellow and orange. The Fjallabak Nature Reserve derives its magnificence and diverse nature from Iceland’s active volcanic zone. Out of that spectacular and unstable base emerges a captivating beauty that lures people to it: stupendous ravines, steep rhyolite screes, rocky slopes, mountains with views, boiling hot springs, hot pools, cold and clear springs. Picnic lunch included. Top the day off with a nice hot bath in the natural pool at Landmannalaugar before we return.

South Coast
Day 7- South Coast
This morning with your private driver guide you will head out to explore south coast of Iceland. It is a place where you can walk behind waterfalls, where you can witness the natural beauty of Iceland and where you can see the fertile farmlands side by side with pitch black lava fields.
Drive along Iceland’s South Coast reveals green majestic mountains and a masterpiece of volcanic scenery with the highly active Hekla volcano looming in the clouds along with the glistening Eyjafjalljökull, erupted in 2010 and Mýrdalsjökull glacier which conceals the fiery secrets of Katla volcano underneath. Continue the small village of Vík.
On your route today you will go for a glacier hike on Sólheimajökull Glacier. The tour starts with an introduction to the necessary glacier equipment provided in the tour and learning the safety rules needed. Then you will take off on a short but scenic walk across the pitch-black volcanic ash and sands that are from the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull Glacier in 2010. And then continue to the Sólheimajökull glacier. Visit to Reynisfjara beach.
Overnight at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon
Day 8- Exploring glacial lagoons:
Today you will wake up very close to the famous glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón. The mystical lagoon is enormous and has provided the backdrop for many major feature films and programs including Batman Begins, James Bond – Die another Day and most recently Game of Thrones.
Nearby Jokulsarlon is a sand beach named Breidamerkursandur. It is often called ‘The Diamond Beach‘ because of the glaciers from Jokulsarlon that have washed up on the sand where they lie and sparkle like diamonds.
You will also visit small but stunning Fjallsárlon glacial lagoon.
At the Glacier Lagoon you will enjoy private zodiac boat tour. The tour on the water is about 1 hour. On zodiac boat tour you will be able to cover large areas of the lagoon and get closer to the icebergs than on the amphibian. When possible, the Zodiac goes almost all the way up to the glacier (as close as safe). On the boat you get to taste the 1000-year-old ice and if you are lucky you might even see some seals.

A short walk into the Skaftafell area of Vatnajokull National Park provides visitors with a breathtaking view of Svartifoss (Black Falls). Ice-cold meltwater from Svinafellsjokull glacier feeds the famous Svartifoss waterfall. The waterfall tumbles down 20 metres (80 ft) over a cliff, which is bordered on both sides by tall black basalt columns. It resembles pipes of a giant organ, which is where the waterfall gets its name. Visit Fjadrargljufur Canyon.
