Day 2 – Singapore

After breakfast, a professional private tour guide will have a meet and greet session with you at your hotel lobby to start your exciting Singapore half day guided tour! (4 1/2 hours)

Your tour will begin with a leisurely bumboat ride along the Singapore River. The Singapore River is a small river with great historical importance. It is the place where Sir Stamford Raffles made as the 1st trading port in Singapore. The ride will end at Merlion Park at Esplanade Bridge. At the Merlion Park, come face to face with Singapore’s very own tourism mascot, the Merlion, standing in the foreground, whilst the structural masterpiece of visionary architect Moshe Safdie, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel stands majestically in its awesome granduer.

The tour continues with a drive around the Civic District past the Padang Cricket Club, Parliament House, Supreme Court and City Hall. Next stop will be one of the oldest and most important Hokkien temples in Singapore, Thian Hock Keng Temple. The temple was built in traditional southern Chinese architectural masterpiece of stone, tiles and dragons and phoenixes, amazing cravings, intricate sculptures and imposing columns. Last stop is the National Orchid Garden, within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, which boasts a colorful display of 60,000 orchid plants, with 400 species and more than 2,000 hybrids represented. Remember to look out for Miss Vanda Miss Joaquim, the national flower of Singapore.

Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at The Halia. Halia – Malay for ginger – is located in the one-hectare Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens where over 250 species of gingers with their stunning foliage and colourful flowers thrive. The construction of Halia was carried out simultaneously with the development of the Ginger Garden in the year 2000. Careful consideration was given to the special park setting, such that architecture conformed to the contours of the land, the dignity of mature trees and the preservation of heritage. In 2001, the Halia was officially opened. The result is an unobtrusive dining room with full height glass windows, beckoning the greenery indoors, and allowing guests to dine in the Garden whilst still comfortably ensconced in cool surroundings. Decades-old majestic palm trees stand like sentries, guardian-witness to the earthy beauty that is the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Overnight stay at 5* The Ritz-Carlton Millenia in a Deluxe Kallang Room.

*Breakfast & Lunch included.

Day 3 – Singapore > Little India > Singapore

Today, the Cultural Kaleidoscope is on the agenda (4 1/2 hours).

Singapore was part of British Malaya for many centuries. It was ruled by the Sultanate of Johor before the British came to the Island and set up a port and colony in 1819. After World War II, Singapore became an independent nation and republic, where she remains till today. Today, Singapore has a diverse populace of just over 5 million people or more which is made up of Chinese, Malays, Indians, Caucasians and Eurasians (plus other mixed groups) and Asians of different origins, which is in line with the nation’s history as a crossroads for various ethnic and racial groups.

Experience up close the various cultures come alive before your very eyes as you explore the nooks and crannies of each ethnic heritage enclave by turns. Travel to Little India where you will see bustling streets showcasing aromatic and exotic spices, colourful flower-garland shops, vegetable vendors, busy curry houses and even henna painting! Moving on to Tekka Centre, it is a multi-use building comprising a wet market, food centre and shops in Little India. Today, Tekka Centre remains a landmark in Little India, where different ethnic communities congregate. You will get to watch up-close roti prata flipping in one of the shops. Roti Prata is one of the local favourite all day meal; a fried flatbread that is cooked over a flat grill. It is usually served with a vegetable or meat-based curry and it is originated from Singapore. At Kampong Gelam, admire the quiet majesty of the Sultan’s Mosque with its unmistakable golden dome, explore colourful food eateries, and browse through old-fashioned shops selling batiks, carpets, rattan basket-ware and exotic perfumes.

Take the opportunity to try ‘Teh Halia’ in one of the shops. Teh halia is Malay for ginger tea. This slightly spicy and sweet drink is served in traditional coffee shops in Singapore and Malaysia. The coffee shop version of the ginger milk tea is especially sweet as they use sweetened condensed milk. Tell us what do you think of drink as our guide will share you the benefit of drinking teh halia. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at The Coconut Club. The Coconut Club was born out of the desire to bring people together over the most satisfying Nasi Lemak possible. It has become an iconic place to gather over plates of delicious fried chicken, grilled fish and a variety of sharing plates such as our Homemade Otah, Terung Assam Manis and Iga Bakar.

The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Overnight stay at 5* The Ritz-Carlton Millenia in a Deluxe Kallang Room.

* Breakfast & Lunch included.

Day 4 – Singapore

After breakfast, start your tour (3 hours) at the Amoy Street Food Centre in the Central Business District. First stop at A Noodle Story, founded by Ben Tham and Gwern Khoo. Both were chefs in high-end restaurants until they decided to become “hawkerpreneurs” and start their own stall, which has received Michelin’s Bib Gourmand designation for specialties such as Hong Kong egg noodles in a Japanese-style ramen with sous vide pork. A Noodle Story serves only 200 bowls per day.

Next, walk down one of Singapore’s popular hawker centres to Maxwell Food Centre–abustling spot for locals and tourists alike, it’s home to a multitude of good eats. That said, however, there is one dish which Maxwell Food Centre is particularly popular for: chicken rice. As known by many foodies or familiar to the locals, Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is regarded as one of the definitive spots for chicken rice in Singapore.

Last stop: Chinatown Complex, Jin Ji Teochew Braised Duck & Kway Chap. The small stall has been around since 1983, with the owner Melvin, formerly a mechanic, taking over after his father passed away. He wakes up every day at 5 a.m. to start the duck and kway chap: flat noodle rolls with broth served with a side of pig liver, glutinous rice balls and radish. Melvin’s rendition of this traditional Singaporean dish earned him a visit from Anthony Bourdain.

The remainder of the day is at leisure.
